US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM WAR

The family of Mr. Ronnie Pitcock, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services, and the LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Ronnie Wayne Pitcock, 78, of Bulverde, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Corpus Christi, Ronnie lived a life defined by courage, devotion, hard work, and an unwavering love for those closest to him.

Ronnie shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Patricia. Together, they built a strong and loving family that remained the center of his world. He was a proud and devoted father to Ronnie (Cherie), Johnnie (Emily), Christopher (Jenny), and Joseph (Kimberly), as well as his beloved cat, Sweetie Pie. He was also a cherished grandfather to Ronnie, Travis, Reed, Jacie, Anna, JW, Nicholas, Tyler, and Tinker, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.

In addition to his immediate family, Ronnie is survived by his brothers, Mike (Harrilyn), Darryl (Patti), Ricky (Kim), and Terry, along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his kindness and strength. He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Jacob Pitcock, and his mother, Sybil Belle.

A proud American patriot, Ronnie honorably served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1974, completing three tours during the Vietnam War. A fearless and highly respected pilot, he flew the OV-1 Mohawk — known by many as the “Widowmaker.” His bravery, leadership, and dedication earned him four Bronze Stars for his distinguished military service. Ronnie carried that spirit of service and strength with him throughout his entire life.

Ronnie was a lifelong learner who believed strongly in hard work, growth, and perseverance. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1978, later completed his Master’s degree in Telecommunications in 1991, and proudly achieved his Doctorate in Business Administration and Management in 2015. His educational accomplishments reflected the same determination and dedication that defined both his military and professional career.

Following his military career, Ronnie became a pioneer in the cable television industry, helping shape and grow the business during its formative years. Even in retirement, he remained a sought-after strategic advisor, helping companies grow through his entrepreneurial vision and leadership. Ronnie believed there was no challenge too great to overcome, and he approached both business and life with grit, confidence, and heart.

Outside of work, Ronnie was deeply involved in his community as a Shriner (El Jebel Shrine), Mason, and active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Ronnie’s passion for aviation extended far beyond his military service. He found great joy in building and flying RC airplanes and shared that passion with many others through the Boerne Area Model Society at Joshua Springs Park, where he proudly served as former president. Whether mentoring fellow enthusiasts, spending time at the flying field, or simply enjoying the camaraderie of friends who shared his love of flight, Ronnie’s enthusiasm and leadership left a lasting impact on the community he cherished.

Ronnie never met a stranger. He was a kind soul with a larger-than-life presence who loved fiercely and gave generously. He will be remembered for his strength, his stories, his loyalty, his humor, and the deep pride he carried for his family. His legacy of love, courage, and perseverance will live on through all who knew and loved him.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
