US ARMY/AIR FORCE RETIRED VETERAN – OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM
The family of Mr. Arnulfo Benavidez Garza, a US Army/Air Force (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services, and the LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
Arnulfo B. Garza, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by immediate family and friends on August 6, 2026 at the blessed age of 76 years old.
Born on October 18, 1949 in Sikeston Missouri to Jose and Modesta Garza, Arnulfo lived a life defined by love, dedication, service, and a commitment to the people he loved and held dear.
Arnulfo was a devoted and faithful husband to wife and love of his life Linda Rose, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage. Their life together was built on a strong foundation of love, family values, a strong work ethic, and cherished memories. He was also a very sweet, caring, silly, and loving father/grandfather to his children, grandchildren, and buddy to Spanky (dog). He was always very active and present in their lives, taking great pride in all their accolades, and accomplishments. He also was very patient, understanding, kind, motivating, and uplifting when in doubt, failure, or disappointment set in with his loved ones. He was proud of his family and present for those he loved and cared for. He enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, fishing, visits to the beach, family gatherings, card games, casino entertainment, and helping others in need.
Arnulfo was drafted in 1970 and proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later continued his service as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve for 33 years. His military service was a reflection of his strong character, discipline, courage, and willingness to serve something greater than himself and provide a better future for his family. Alongside his military commitments, he worked for the Civil Service sector of Kelly Air Force Base for 20 years.
Arnulfo leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Linda Rose; children, Genevieve (Marvell-decd), and Armando; grandchildren, Sierrah and Kaitlynn; his grand dog Spanky and grand cat Cleo. Arnulfo is also survived by his siblings; Guadalupe (William Sr.), Alfred, Domingo (Evelia),
and Eloise. He also will be missed by many nephews, nieces, and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Modesta Garza; brothers Joe Jr., Ramiro (spouse Amelia-decd) and sister Emma (spouse Lazaro-decd).
His legacy of love and service to his country with honor, strength, devotion and love to his family will live on along with all whose lives he touched.
We also would like to thank the Methodist Home Care Therapist staff Angelica and Xiang and other medical staff that worked with Arnulfo. While Arnulfo was with PAM Rehabilitation Hospital, we also thank his Therapist Rina & Carol, along with additional clinical nursing staff. Finally, we thank Guiding Light Hospice staff and nurses; Stacey, Briana, and Monica who helped make Arnulfo’s care a little easier to understand. Through his interactions, Arnulfo enjoyed being silly, and teasing these staff members and they enjoyed him all the more through it.
Rest peacefully, your service is complete, your watch is over, and your legacy lives on. You will
forever remain in the hearts of those who loved you.
