[MC]OLD GLORY RELAY (74-16) 17 Oct 2016

Post by sgtmack » 13 Oct 2016, 23:56

Team Red, White and Blue, San Antonio Chapter, has requested the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders in a LEO supported escort of "Old Glory" in "Relay 2016".

This year, 62 teams are charged with moving a single American flag across our great nation. At sunrise on September 11, participants began to cover 4,216 miles beginning in Seattle, Washington and will be ending on Veterans Day in Tampa, Florida. Throughout this cross-country journey, Eagles, Patriots, and Communities will connect to support our runners, walkers and cyclists as they raise awareness and generate funding to enrich the lives of the veterans we serve.

Team Red, White & Blue San Antonio will begin its portion of this journey at sunrise on Monday, October 17. Each runner will bring Old Glory one step closer to her final destination. Old Glory will arrive at The Alamo at approximately 5 pm on Monday and will be furled for the night. At sunrise again on Tuesday, October 18, she will again begin her travels east. Come and help us celebrate her journey by cheering on the arrival of Old Glory as she enters The Alamo.

Jean,

I had the honor for meeting the Patriot Guard when Old Glory ran into town on Oct 17th. They also escorted us out of town the morning of the 18th. I wanted to share that they are an amazing group. It was really uplifting to carry the flag and hear the procession of Patriotic family behind me. Sadly it seems the news is filled with negative stories, but on the 17th and 18th I witnessed first hand there are so many amazing people that make up this country. That care deeply, and are passionate about this great country. Thank each and everyone of your team-they are amazing.
