“SHORT NOTICE”

OPERATION FINALLY HOME – KEY CEREMONY

“Operation Finally Home” is a national non-profit organization that provides mortgage-free homes to America’s wounded military heroes. We will be having a “Groundbreaking Ceremony for US Army Retired Veteran Captain John David Roberts, on May 23rd, and would be honored if the PGR can join us at a staging location, and then escort the family to their new home site. Thanks for your consideration, and Thanks for your service to our country. God Bless!!”

On Tuesday, May 23, 2023 “Operation Finally Home” we will be conducting a “Groundbreaking” event at 10:00 am in the August Fields Community for Capt. John Roberts.

John David Roberts is an 18-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army, serving in the Air Force for six years from 1990-1997, and then an additional 12 years in the Army from 2006-2018.

After separating from the Air Force to attend college and graduate school, he returned to the Army as a transportation specialist and later was accepted into Officer Candidate School. He became an Officer in the Combat Engineer Corps and served a one-year combat deployment in Afghanistan in 2011.

Roberts’ combat and active-duty injuries are numerous. While in the Air Force, he survived a mass shooting at Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital, providing aid to many of the victims around him. He began suffering PTSD following this event before leaving the Air Force.

In the Army, he suffered a partial loss of lung capacity due to sandstorms in Afghanistan and was later in a motorcycle accident while stationed in Arizona. His injuries from the accident nearly cost him his life and led to the amputation of his right leg below the knee. Since the accident, complications from his injuries have led to 38 total surgeries and him losing the ability to walk.

Roberts is highly decorated for his service to our country. He has twice received a Bronze Star Medal in addition to five total commendation medals, three from the Army and two from the Air Force and many more.

Roberts and his wife, Marites, have three children and care for Marites’ mother in San Antonio. They love movies, outdoor picnics, fishing, and cooking.

Operation FINALLY HOME and a builder plan to partner in providing Captain John David Roberts and his family a mortgage-free, ADA-compliant home in the San Antonio area.
