“EXTREMELY SHORT NOTICE”

US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM ERA

The family of Mr. Larry Butler, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

LARRY DON BUTLER, MIDLAND, TEXAS. JANUARY 15, 1944, – DECEMBER 7, 2024

Larry was born in and (was mostly raised) in Midland, Texas, to William Benjamine “Brownie” & Faye Butler on January 15, 1944, he passed away on December 7, 2024. Larry is survived by Ruth Ann Jackson Butler, wife; Siblings – Wayne Butler (Donna), and Peggy Lee Butler Hurless (Rick); Children – Sallie I Woodard Simerly (Allen), Rebecca A Woodard Woodward (Phil), Lisa M Woodard Whitlock (Jason), Nikole Butler Dalton AND, of course our sweet, loyal Service Dog – BUSTER BUTLER.

Larry was preceded in death by “Brownie” and Faye Butler, Sharion Butler & their first daughter, Patricia Butler, plus his Siblings – Lorraine Howard and Cindy Davis.

Larry was many things to many people – Loving Devoted Husband & Special Friend, Brother, Dad, Stepdad, Papa, Uncle, & Cousin, as well as a friend to so many.

Anytime he saw a need he was there to help. He truly loved his family and friends. He was a proud member of Cowboy Church here in Midland, although he could not attend these last few years with all the illnesses he suffered through.

He served his country in the Army in the Vietnam War. When he came home with injuries, he was well taken care of by the Big Springs VA, the community Doctors, and Nurses, plus Star Care Home Health & Hospice and we thank them all for their passionate care for him.

Larry was a truck driver for many years in and around the Midland area, and many of you may know him from those days. He worked in the oil industry as well as for other companies.

He loved the Arts, oh how he loved our traveling across the country, camping, fishing, and most of all Jeremey’s ribs…
