“EXTREMELY SHORT NOTICE”
US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM ERA
The family of Mr. Daniel Romo Pacheco, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
Daniel R. Pacheco… born in Seguin, Texas on July 21, 1943, was called home by our Heavenly Father, surrounded by his family on January 1, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Daniel was a Loving and Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend.
Daniel is reunited in heaven with his parents Jesus and Jovita Pacheco and with his beautiful wife of 55 years Sylvia M Pacheco. He is survived by his loving son Roland Pacheco, grandson Lorenzo Pacheco, granddaughter Alexis Pacheco (Jake Mendoza), daughter in law Natalie Alaniz, siblings, along with numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Danny married the love of his life in 1969, and their bond was nothing short of extraordinary. His devotion to Sylvia was evident in every aspect of their 50+ years together, and her passing was a profound loss, especially for Danny. For years, he visited her daily, rain or shine, at the cemetery, spending quiet moments with her. His faith grew even stronger, and he often requested Mass in her memory as a way to honor her. Danny continued to work while doing his best to keep everything just as Sylvia would have wanted. Over the years, they built strong friendships, particularly with their neighbors. Whether they knew someone for years or simply shared a brief conversation, Danny and Sylvia left a lasting impression on all who crossed their path.
Danny had a love for the thrill of casinos, especially the Winstar Casino Resort in Oklahoma. He also cherished fishing trips with his son, grandchildren, and his new fishing partner and cruise roommate, Manuel Delgado. In 2024, Danny embarked on two Carnival cruises to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras. He relished the excursions and the opportunity to hold exotic animals like sloths, monkeys, and toucans. A hard worker at heart, Danny devoted many years as a truck driver for the San Antonio Food Bank, taking immense pride in his work.
Danny was a loving and dedicated father to his only son, Roland. Whether it was through countless road trips, adventures, or sharing his love of sports, Danny left a lasting influence. He coached Roland’s baseball team and introduced him to the world of bowling. As Roland grew older, the two enjoyed bowling together for many years, often competing on teams side by side. Danny also enjoyed playing pool with Roland, Lorenzo, and Alexis. He taught them cool tricks on the pool table at their house, and even recently, he continued to play for fun, always with that same enthusiasm and skill.
In 2001, Danny and Sylvia welcomed their first grandchild, Lorenzo, and in 2002, their second, Alexis. Sylvia and Danny were pillars of support for their grandchildren, attending every sports game, concert, award ceremony, and school event. Their voices of encouragement were always heard as they cheered on their grandchildren with unwavering pride. Danny was a man who took immense pride in his family, and in return, he was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him. His easy going nature, sense of humor, and uplifting spirit made him a joy to be around. The Pacheco home was always a welcoming place, where Danny and Sylvia ensured that family and guests felt at home.
Danny always enjoyed listening to music. He played the guitar for fun, passing that on to his son, who would often play at family gatherings. Some of Danny’s favorite music included oldies, Tejano, and Elvis. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, always surrounded by the people he loved.
A true sports fan, Danny was a devoted supporter of the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. For many years, it became a family tradition for Danny, Sylvia, and Roland to attend the Cowboys’ Thanksgiving Day game in Dallas. Danny’s favorite colors reflected his love for his teams—black, silver, and blue.
His go-to breakfast was huevos rancheros, and he was a fan of anything chocolate, especially German chocolate cake, chocolate ice cream, or a Butterfinger Blizzard from Dairy Queen. His favorite drinks included root beer, Big Red, and margaritas. He also enjoyed the companionship of his chihuahua, Frida, who became his constant sidekick in recent years. She even adopted his napping schedule and snoring habits!
Danny was a kind, loving, and humorous man. He always had a joke ready to make others laugh. He loved sharing stories of his upbringing and recounting his time overseas in the Army. Danny was never angry—always calm, sweet, and funny. His family trips, fishing outings, and bowling games were always cherished memories he shared with a smile. Danny had a soft spot for old Western movies and Mexican food, and he was a simple man who appreciated life’s little pleasures. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend, and his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. We will forever love and miss him.
