US ARMY – ACTIVE DUTY DEATH – RECOVERY
The family of Sgt. Devin Alexander Seibel, US Army. Requests the attendance and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders in the recovery of their loved one and a LEO Supported Procession to the Funeral Home. We are honored to accept this invitation.
We share with a profound and heartfelt sadness that on May 31, our world went dark. On this day, we lost our brightest light, precious son, cherished friend, beloved brother, devoted husband and father, Devin Seibel. Devin, a 26-year-old flight paramedic, tragically lost his life while stationed in Iraq. Devin had a servant’s heart and an adventurous and congenial personality. He made friends everywhere that he went. Devin was truly the best of us and never put himself above anyone.
Devin was loved by so many and touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with in some memorable way. He was an incredible human being, courageous, strong, and selfless. As part of the Army’s air ambulance battalion, Devin took care of the sick and wounded and was recognized for his service, dedication, and skill through numerous awards, decorations, and accommodations. He took on every challenge that came his way, embraced every opportunity (as well as those he created for himself), always looking for the next adventure he could tackle, whether it be graduating with top honors, teaching fellow medics, devising his own training programs both for medicine and the gym, building things out of wood, and many other hobbies that he took on. Devin worked tirelessly to be the best he could be in any venture. His dauntless spirit was forever seeking ways to extract the most joy out of life.
In the weeks since his passing, our home has been bustling with folks sharing the lore and antics of the friend they have lost. The house is filled with sadness, but also the hearty laughter that accompanies some truly legendary tales. Devin was born in Waco and grew up in the Central Texas Region. At Rapoport Academy and Crawford High School, he ran cross country, played tennis, and took part in many other sports and activities. He enlisted in the Army early, following in his brother’s footsteps. He loved boxing and games, often playing with friends and family, and he harbored a particular fondness for sheep, but he loved all animals and grew up surrounded by rescues that he, his mother, and his brother had found who were in need of his help and his heart. He leaves behind many wonderful memories of traveling, hiking, finding cool outdoor spots to explore, and running trails around Texas, Colorado, or wherever he happened to be. He loved Galveston as much as the mountains. Devin constantly explored new places, was fascinated with history, in particular anything to do with pirates, and partial to finding small local restaurants off the beaten path, though he really was happy anywhere that had good food! We all treasure the many meals and drinks enjoyed in his company and the many hours spent playing games together. He made simply being together fun.
Devin leaves behind his wife, Maddy, and daughter Diana, his mother Suzie McMillan, his brother Kameron Seibel, and his father Graeme Seibel. He also leaves behind so many friends that we do not have the space to list them all.
Our hearts will never completely heal, and our light will always be a little dimmer because Devin is no longer with us. We also know that we will forever carry this incredible human being in our hearts. He brings out the best in us as we seek to be the kind of person he was in life. So please raise your glasses, remember his smile, and laugh, remember those amazing hugs, and know that he will always be a part of us – the best part of us. Fly high, sweet boy, clear skies and tailwinds. We are proud of you, and we will always miss you.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated and unless under special circumstances not allowed in processions. You do not have to have a motorcycle to participate in honoring our veterans.
2. Safety First: Please remember to properly hydrate (including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also please do not forget your sun screen.
3. Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and. NO TALKING, SMOKING, CHEWING OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS, OR CELL PHONE USE IN THE FLAG LINE!

Funeral Processions/Escorts
EVERY RIDER IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for their own safety at all times while riding in a funeral procession.
At NO TIME are any riders authorized to block any intersection or otherwise block or impede traffic laws in any way. Only Law Enforcement officials are authorized to block and/or impeded the lawful flow of traffic.
If you choose to fly a Flag on your bike you are SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring it is secured and not a danger to any other rider or traffic.
