US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM WAR
The family of Mr. Stanley Stewart, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the LEO supported procession, and the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
Stanley Morris Stewart, born October 16, 1951, in San Antonio, Texas, went to be with our Lord on September 21, 2026, surrounded by his closest loved ones. Stanley lived a life defined by love, faith, service, and dedication.
He proudly served his country in Vietnam, carrying that honor with him throughout his life. He served in the Army from 1970 to 1972 as a Private First Class MP in Vietnam/DaNang. He was an expert marksman and earned several medals (attached). Unfortunately, his exposure to Agent Orange later led to cancer.
For nearly 53 wonderful years, he shared a deep and enduring marriage with his wife, Dixie, the love of his life. Together, they built a beautiful life and family that meant more to him than anything.
He is survived by his children: his oldest son Jeremy Stewart and Vanessa; his daughter Michelle and her husband David; and his youngest son Dusty. Stanley was a proud and joyful grandfather to Kayla and Clint, Cynthia and Sean, Dylan and Natascha, Jacob, Regan and Tanner, Zachary and Kelsey, Natalie and Aiden, Luke, Brayden, Logan, Draken, Kendall, and Wyatt. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Dalton, Octavia, Kayden, Daniel, Hallie, Nalani, Hazel, Dominic, Sean Jr., Raelynn, two more on the way, and-Lord willing-many more to come. Stanley is also survived by his brother jay and Brenda; his brother Mark and Lisa; his brother-in law Don Rainey and Susan; his sisters-in-law Deena, DeeDee, and Donna; and a large, loving extended family including nieces Stacey, jenny, Emily, Samantha, Lauren, Victoria, and Melissa, and nephews Robert, Steven, Kevin, Matt, Chance, Ethan, and Gabe, along with countless great-nieces, great-nephews, as well as close friends considered family: Herby and Bonnie Schraub, Pat Horn, and other close family and friends who cherished him. His children and grandchildren and their families were such an important part of his life and brought him tremendous joy.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father and mother, A.J. and Opal Stewart, and his sister and brother, June Trotter and Lee Stewart.
For over 40 years, Stanley built beautiful homes throughout the Texas Hill Country, San Antonio, and all the way to the coast. His craftsmanship built and shaped communities, and his work ethic set a standard that inspired everyone who knew him. But he was so much more than the work he did. Stanley loved Jesus, his family, and the simple joys of life. He found happiness in cheering for the Spurs, Texans, Cowboys, and Astros; in drag racing and classic cars; in fishing, bowling, tennis, karaoke, camping, boating, and time spent at the lake – and especially time spent at the beach, his and Dixie’s favorite place. Wherever he went, he brought humor, honor, compassion, integrity, patience, and patriotism-qualities that defined him and will be remembered forever. He always had a way of making people feel welcome and seen. To know Stan was to love him. It speaks volumes about the life he lived that so many people considered him not just a friend, but one of their best friends. He touched more lives than he probably ever realized. His family will forever miss his voice, his laughter, his guidance, his jokes and stories, and just simply having him there. He was a loving husband, an incredible dad, a proud grandpa and great-grandpa, a brother, an uncle, a veteran, a friend to so many, and truly just one of a kind. Stanley’s presence filled every room with warmth and laughter. His love for his family was limitless, and his legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched. Our hearts are broken having to say goodbye, but we find comfort in knowing he is with our Lord and Savior.
