US AIR FORCE RETIRED VETERAN – VIETNAM ERA

The family of Mr. Ronnie Hamblin, a US Air Force (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Ronnie Hamblin, 76, of Schertz Texas, passed away peacefully on November 23rd, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 5th 1947, in Luling Texas, to Morgan Hamblin and Lorene James.

Ronnie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and a proud United States Air Force Veteran. He was known for his sense of humor, generosity, friendly banter and just being a great all-around guy. He had a deep love for the Dallas Cowboys, riding his Harley Davidson and watching Fox News.

He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, dedicating his life to military service. Throughout his career, he was stationed at key command locations worldwide, taking on various leadership roles within different squadrons. Ronnie’s military journey included numerous promotions, multiple First Sergeant assignments, as well as his establishment of a New Airmen Mentorship program at Aviano Airbase Italy. During his military career he was awarded the Airmen’s Medal for heroism, 5 Meritorious Medals, 3 Air Force Commendation Medal, 1 Army Commendation Medal, 1 Humanitarian Medal and the Airborne Parachute Badge. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1998, he spent his time riding in the Texas countryside on White Lightning (his prized Harley-Davidson) with his wife, spending time with his family and watching football. He was deeply respected by his colleagues, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ronnie is survived by his beloved children Michael Hamblin and Jenna Annas (Raymond Annas), his 4 grandchildren Cyrus, Logan, Oliver, and Eleanor, and 1 great grandchild, Pandora; who will carry on his legacy of love and commitment to family. He is also survived by his twin brother Donnie, older brother Charles, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Iris Hamblin and his grandsons Joshua and Noah.

A memorial service to honor Ronnie’s life will be held on December 18th at Watershed Church starting at 11am, followed by burial at Fort Sam National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories, celebrate his life, and offer support to one another. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or Patriot Guard in Ronnie Hamblin’s honor.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Hope Hospice and SAMMC (San Antonio Military Medical Center) for their compassionate care and support.

Ronnie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
