US AIR FORCE VETERAN
The family of Mr. Robert Blackwell, a US Air Force Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the service of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
The winner of the ultimate race is….. Robert Dale Blackwell!! Thursday, February 23rd, Bob pressed on to win the race and received the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, called him.
Yes, it is true Bob had an Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s degree, and a few Masters degrees, served honorably with the United States Air Force in Vietnam, traveled the world, and had more stories than Reader’s Digest, but these are not even counted among his greatest accomplishments. If you asked him, he would tell you about Pat, his bride, and the love of his life for 55 years. He would tell you of countless memories they made together and how he would not want to have done any of it without her. He would tell you about his three boys and how proud he was of the men they have become. He would proudly claim three daughters-in-law and the blessing they have brought to him and the family. He would go on and on about his seven grandchildren. How they are the joy of his heart and one of the greatest parts of his legacy and gift to this world. More than all this, you would know without a doubt that Jesus Christ was his Lord and Savior. He would tell you how he did nothing to deserve salvation but through his humble acceptance of Christ’s forgiveness, he was promised eternity in heaven.
He will be missed. His stories, maybe his jokes, but certainly his smile, sense of humor, generous spirit, and unconditional acceptance of all God’s people. We cannot wait to be reunited with him someday…and as Christians, we know we will.
