US AIR FORCE RETIRED VETERAN – VIETNAM, DESERT STORM

The family of Mr. Richard Walter Cwynar, a US Air Force (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

In Loving Memory of Colonel Richard Walter Cwynar (Retired), he was born on March 22, 1939, and he passed away on January 7, 2024.

Richard proudly served his country as an Air Force Colonel for 30 years, deploying with distinction in both the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. His unwavering commitment and courage earned him the respect of his peers and the gratitude of a nation. His legacy as a devoted patriot and military leader will forever be etched in our memories and our country’s history.

Beyond his distinguished military career, Richard was a beloved husband, first married to Paula Cwynar who passed too soon in 1980, then remarried for 40 years to his wife, Frances. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to the strength of their bond, weathering the challenges of life with favor and resilience.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Richard is also survived by his three brothers, Robert, Walter, and Michael, who shared a lifelong camaraderie forged through the bonds of family. His memory will be cherished by his children, Rick, Mark, Kelly, Bill, and Kathy and his numerous grandchildren who were the light of his later years.

In celebrating the life of Richard, we remember a man of honor, integrity, and character. He had a passion for sports, particularly golf and loved singing in Sunday Choir. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched and the values he instilled in those fortunate enough to know him.

May he rest in eternal peace, walk the golden streets, and have his memory continue to inspire us all. And in his honor, may the Cubs win the World Series and the Bears beat the Packers!
