The family of Mr. Ramon “Bear” Villela Gonzales, a US Army  Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders at the LEO escorted procession and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

It is with profound sadness that I share the passing of our beloved father Ramon V. Gonzales, better known as Bear to his family and friends, he left us on May 25,2024 at the age of 79. Surrounded by his loving family in his final moments. He was a man with immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with his family.

Ramon was born in San Antonio, Texas to Gilbert and Ramona Gonzales on Nov. 19, 1944. He went to school in San Antonio. He married Rose Mary Lambarida in 1978. He graduated from St. Phillips College. He worked as a Master mason for Randolph Air Force Base. He was a veteran of The Vietnam War and served in the Army in the 25 Infantry, 101st Airborne.

Ramon is preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Ramona Gonzales, sister Margarita Rosario and nephews Noel Fabian Gonzales and David Gonzales. Ramon is survived by his wife Rose Mary Gonzales, children Gina Marie Hernandez, Raymond Christopher Gonzales (Becky), Frank Matthew Gonzales (Savannah), and Sandra Victoria Rodriguez, grandchildren Sammantha, Aidan, Marly, Rex, Melchor, Sigreda and Stefania. His 12 brothers and sisters Gilbert, Richard, Connie, Carrie, Oscar, Lupe, Florence, Emelio, Tina, Maggie, Gracie, Felice and many nephews and nieces.

Anyone who knew Bear knew he was authentic and indisputably loved his family and friends. He was consistent, dependable and selfless when it came to helping others. He loved to fish, play dominoes, joke around, watch Westerns, and most importantly loved to spend time with his family and friends. We all know he loved his beer and tequila. He was an incredible son, brother, uncle, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be immensely missed by all and never forgotten. Pallbearers will be Christopher Gonzales, Frank Gonzales, Alejandro San Miguel, Emilio Gallegoes, Allen Tavarez and Emilio Gonzales Visitation and Rosary will be 12:00 p.m. till 2:00 p.m. Tuesday the 18th of June at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home 6321 Bandera Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78238.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday the 18th of June at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Arrangements are by Sunset Northwest Funeral Home. The family of Ramon Gonzales wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the nurses and doctors who took care of him in his last years of life.

ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated and unless under special circumstances not allowed in processions. You do not have to have a motorcycle to participate in honoring our veterans.

2. Safety First: Please remember to properly hydrate (including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also please do not forget your sun screen.

3. Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and. NO TALKING, SMOKING, CHEWING OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS, OR CELL PHONE USE IN THE FLAG LINE!

4. Cemeteries are hallowed ground. Please keep radios off and engine noise to a minimum. Observe the 15 MPH speed limit. Show our respect to ALL who are in attendance.

5. If riding/driving a motorcycle on Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, which is located within a Military Installation, you will need to wear closed toe shoes, long sleeve shirt, gloves, DOT approved helmet, eye protection, long pants, and boots/shoes that cover the ankle.

Funeral Processions/Escorts
EVERY RIDER IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for their own safety at all times while riding in a funeral procession.

At NO TIME are any riders authorized to block any intersection or otherwise block or impede traffic laws in any way.  Only Law Enforcement officials are authorized to block and/or impeded the lawful flow of traffic.

If you choose to fly a flag on your bike you are SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring it is secured and not a danger to any other rider or traffic.
