US ARMY VETERAN

The family of Mr. Rafael Y Montez III, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Rafael Montez, III (Ralph), a cherished family member, friend, and hero who selflessly served our country.

He enlisted into the US Army on January 6, 1994, and protecting the freedoms we hold dear, embodying courage, honor, and sacrifice every step of the way. He was Honorably Discharged on June 6, 1998. Ralph was a Signal Soldier in the US Army Signal Corps. He was stationed in places like Fort Huachuca, Suwon, Korea, and Fort Cavazos. His expertise and personality allowed him to exude leadership and camaraderie. Everyone was equal. Because of this, he was very well respected from all ranks, high or low.

He mentored countless soldiers where some continued on for a time and then entered the civilian world and others that remained until retirement, having reached some of the higher ranks and positions.

He loved his family. He loved to run. He touched many with his laugh, his warrior ways, and his softness of heart.
