US ARMY RETIRED VETERAN – IRAQ
The family of Mr. Leo D. Tucker, II, a US Army (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
It is with a heavy heart to announce the passing of COL Leo Dean Tucker II, DO (U.S. Army Retired) on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at the age of 75. Leo was, above all, a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. His home was warm, welcoming, and filled with laughter—a place where family always came first.
Leo Dean Tucker II was born on May 31, 1949, to Leo Dean (Sr.) and Lila Tucker in Avon Park, Florida. He married San Juanita “Janie” Tucker on December 31, 1973. They have two sons, Christopher (Kim) and Jonathan, and five grandchildren he adored. Leo is also survived by brothers David (Kay), Delmon (Sandra†), and Sidney (Melinda), along with his Uncle Duane (Arlene†) Tucker.
Beyond his family, Leo was a man of duty and service. He spoke of his “great honor and privilege to serve our great country in the U.S. Army.”
COL Leo Dean Tucker II spent over 35 years in the U.S. Army, enlisting as a Private and retiring as a full bird Colonel. COL Tucker served in many locations around the world in the medical field throughout his lifetime. His military training started as an Enlisted Combat Medic and ultimately transitioned to an Army Physician. He served as Chief and Head Doctor, Troop Medical Clinic (TMC); Battalion Surgeon (1st Cavalry Division); Brigade Surgeon (1st Cavalry Division); Garrison Surgeon (Ft. Carson) and Acting Surgeon for Joint Readiness Training Center (Ft. Polk). He then served as III Corps Surgeon (in peace) along with Surgeon Commander of Multi-National Corps-Iraq (MNC-I) and Multi-National Forces-Iraq (MNF-I) (in war). Additionally, he was also Command Surgeon and Chief Medical Officer, Joint Task Force Guantanamo in Cuba. Among his awards and decorations include Bronze Stars, a Defense Meritorious Medal, Legion of Merits, Meritorious Service Medals, and Army Commendation Medals.
Though we will miss him deeply, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on through the lives he touched and the memories we carry in our hearts. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and service that will continue to inspire us.
Rest in peace, Leo. You were loved beyond words, and your impact will never be forgotten.
