US AIR FORCE RETIRED VETERAN
The family of Mr. Julian Garcia, a US Air Force (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
With profound respect and admiration, we honor the life of Capt. Julian Garcia, who departed this world on January 2, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, following a stroke. Julian, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, was born on July 11, 1939, in Brownsville, Texas, to Julian Chapa Garcia and Juana Vela. His life was a remarkable journey of 85 years, filled with love, courage, and an unwavering faith.
Julian’s legacy is carried forward by his beloved wife of 66 and a half years, Maria G. Garcia, and their children: Dr. Margie Falcon (Mike), Katherine McElroy (Mike), the late Elizabeth Kalka (Kevin), and David Garcia (Brenda). His memory will forever be treasured by his grandsons Brian (Lauren) and Kevin Graue (Taylor), Morgan, Tanner, Carson, and Connor Kalka, and RJ Garcia, as well as his granddaughters Lily and Audrey Garcia. Julian’s joy was multiplied by his great-grandchildren Harper, Collin, Cooper, and Astrid Graue. His life was further enriched by his siblings: the late Ramon, Eduardo, Jose, the late Juan Jose, Maria Elena, Angelita, Dolores, Teresa, Marta, Gracie, and the late Blanca Garcia. Julian was also proud of his extended family, delighting in his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A man of intellect and discipline, Julian pursued his education with vigor, earning a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs in 1967, and later an MBA from Amber University in 1985. His dedication to his country was evident in his 20 years of service in the Air Force, where he began a career with assignments in Supply Procurement, Dignitary Affairs, and Budget Analysis. Following his retirement from the military, Julian continued to apply his budgeting expertise for 17 years at Texas Instruments, and with Dallas ISD for 12 years.
Julian’s life was one of vibrant engagement with the world around him. A true history buff, he found joy in traveling and immersing himself in the stories of the past. He was an avid reader, always keen to explore new ideas and expand his knowledge. Sports were a passion for Julian, who loyally supported the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. His love for conversation and meeting new people made him a beloved figure in his community and beyond.
Those who knew Julian would describe him as a loving family man, courageous in the face of life’s challenges, and deeply faith filled. His benevolent spirit and generous heart left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of crossing paths with him.
Capt. Julian Garcia’s journey on earth may have come to an end, but his spirit continues to inspire those he left behind. His story—a tapestry woven with dedication to his nation, commitment to his family, and a life lived with purpose, will be recounted with pride and fondness for generations to come.
As we bid farewell to Julian, we reflect on a life that exemplified the virtues of compassion, integrity, and resilience. We are comforted by the knowledge that his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable presence. Julian’s journey through life was a testament to the enduring power of love, and his legacy will continue to light the way for those he loved so dearly.
