CONFIRMED: Jose Angel Diaz, Veteran, US Army, Firefighter/Paramedic (34-26) 4 Mar 26 @ Sunset North Funeral Home | San Antonio | Texas | United States

US ARMY VETERAN – FIREFIGHTER & PARAMEDIC

The family of Mr. Jose Angel Diaz, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services, and the LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Jose Diaz was born on September 14, 1955, to Mateo and Juanita Diaz. He resided in San Antonio, Texas, where he built a life rooted in faith, dedication, and unwavering love for his family. Jose’s life reflected quiet strength, humility, and a servant’s heart — always putting others before himself and trusting God through every season of life.

Jose is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Josephine Diaz, with whom he shared 47 beautiful years of marriage built on love, loyalty, faith, and commitment.

He leaves behind his son Jason Diaz and daughter Jennifer Knott, along with his cherished grandchildren Jaren, Joel, Joshua, Jaylene, and Noah — each a reflection of the love and guidance he poured into his family. He is also survived by his son-in-law Jaime Knott and daughter-in-law Irene Diaz; his brothers Mike (Cande), and Mateo Jr.; and his sisters Terry, Mary, Christina, and Anita. Jose leaves behind many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply and will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

Jose attended Lanier High School, Class of 1974, and later continued his education at San Antonio College, earning an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science. His pursuit of knowledge reflected his desire not only to build a career, but to serve others with skill, courage, and compassion.

Jose proudly served his country as a paramedic in the United States Army, demonstrating bravery and compassion in moments when others needed help most. He later continued his calling of service as a firefighter and paramedic with the San Antonio Fire Department — a role that reflected his courage, selflessness, and deep care for his community.

As the owner of Diaz Tile, Jose’s skilled hands and strong work ethic became a reflection of his character. He took pride in craftsmanship, integrity, and providing for his family with dignity.

Beyond titles and accomplishments, Jose’s greatest achievement was the life he built with his family — a life grounded in commitment, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

Jose found joy in traveling, fishing, and bowling — simple moments that brought peace and laughter. He also enjoyed spending time on his iPad, staying connected to loved ones and the world around him. Yet, his greatest joy was always the presence of family, laughter in the home, and quiet moments of togetherness.

A Legacy of Faith & Love, Jose will be remembered for his laughter that lifted spirits and brought comfort to every room, his devotion as a provider, faithfully caring for and protecting his family, his tireless work ethic, showing commitment through sacrifice and perseverance, his skilled hands, building, repairing, and creating with pride and love, and his quiet faith in God, trusting in Him through life’s joys and challenges.

Above all, Jose will be remembered as a man of love — a husband devoted to his wife, a father who led by example, a grandfather whose presence brought warmth, and a servant whose life reflected humility and faith.

His legacy lives on in the values he taught, the memories he created, and the love he planted in every heart he touched.
