US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM WAR

The family of Mr. Ivan Romjue, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services, and the LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.

Ivan Lee Romjue passed away in San Antonio, Texas on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at the age of 76.

Ivan was born on September 9th, 1948, to Wayne & Audrey Romjue in Twin Falls, Idaho. When Ivan moved back to San Antonio with his family in the 1960’s, he attended Highlands High School and Sam Houston High School. In November of 1965, he joined the United States Army and served our Country proudly for 4 years during the Vietnam War. During his time in the Military, He served as an Armorer and Unit Supply Specialist in Germany, where he was awarded with a National Defense Service Medal and a Rifle Sharpshooter award. In September of 1969, He “Honorably” discharged from the Army as a Sargeant, where he then made San Antonio, Texas his permanent home. He then worked for different companies such as the San Antonio Express News, Butter Krust Bakery, Hobart, and several others before joining Southwestern Bell Yellow pages in 1978, where he retired after 32 years in 2010.

One of Ivan’s proudest moments came in 1988, where he became the proud proprietor of The Farmer’s Daughter – San Antonio’s iconic and internationally renowned country music dance hall. He operated the beloved venue with passion and pride until its closure in July of 1996.

Born to live life on the edge, Ivan had a passion for all things fast and free. Whether riding his motorcycle down open roads or turning wrenches on classic cars and hot rods, he found joy in every rev of an engine. He was not just a fan of sports – he lived them. From Saturdays spent yelling at the TV during college football games to talking stats with anyone who would listen, Ivan was a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge and passion.

But beyond the adrenaline and adventure, he was known for his deep love for his family and friends. He never met a stranger and lived each day like it was his last – fully, fiercely, and without regret. He carried a deep and unwavering love for his country. He believed in standing up for what he believed in, and the values this nation stands for.

His spirit was wild, his heart generous, and his smile contagious – the kind that could light up a room and make strangers feel like friends. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and never missed a chance to chase the horizon.

He leaves behind his only Daughter, Jennifer Reyes, and son-n-law Steve Reyes, three beautiful Granddaughters, Kennedy, Savannah, and Elizabeth, as well as a circle of friends and fellow enthusiasts who will forever remember the man who taught them how to live boldly and love deeply. He is preceded in death by his mother and Father, and his sister, Linda Romjue Hartsfield, along with many other Family and Friends.

In honor of Ivan’s love for college football, we invite you to wear your favorite college football team’s shirt or colors. If you do not have a favorite team, feel free to wear orange to represent his beloved University of Texas.
