HOME FOR OUR TROOPS (HFOT’s) COMMUNITY KICK OFF (CKO)

The presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to take part in this joyous event. We have been asked to ride in a LEO supported procession and stand a Flag Line for the veterans and family to participate in the opening ceremony presented by Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). This ceremony will begin the process of building a specially adapted mortgage free home for Two Army Veterans.

Army, Specialist Noah Bailey

On December 4, 2005, during his first combat deployment, Specialist Bailey was serving with the Scout Sniper Platoon, 2-503rd Parachute Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade in Zabul, Afghanistan when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast ejected him from the vehicle, trapping him underneath the rear wheels. After being medically evacuated, SPC Bailey’s right foot was amputated.

He was transported to Landstuhl, Germany before returning stateside to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. After additional surgeries, Noah elected to have doctors amputate his left leg below the knee.

Army, Staff Sargeant Robert Geer

On September 28, 2011, during his fifth combat deployment, Staff Sergeant Geer was serving with Alpha Company, 1-5 INF, 25th Infantry Division as an Infantry in Panjwai, Afghanistan, when his squad was assigned to clear a compound in a suspected hostile area. While he led his squad in clearing a mud hut, two of his Soldiers stepped on IEDs, which resulted in SSG Geer receiving damage to both legs, hip, and pelvis, left arm injuries, ulnar nerve damage, major tissue damage, and other significant injuries. He was transferred to Brooke Army Medical Center.
