The family of Mr. Charles C. Murphy, a US Air Force (Ret.) Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
Charles C. Murphy, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and decorated military veteran, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 87. Born on September 23, 1937, in Liberty, Kentucky, Charles was known for his loving, kind, and generous spirit, which brightened the lives of all who knew him.
After graduating from Liberty High School, Charles embarked on a distinguished military career, serving in the United States Air Force for 30 years. It was during the Start of his career with the Military on his first deployment overseas, he met Ursula Schneider. During their courtship her mother paid for a translator so both could understand the blossoming relationship. Charles was an American Soldier stationed in Germany not long after World War 2. They were Married in Ulm at the Courthouse on October 11, 1958, as youngsters following a short courtship. His commitment to his country was evidenced by his completion of various military courses, including the Special Operations School and the Dynamics of International Terrorism. As a Senior Master Sergeant, he was a respected leader and was recognized with numerous accolades, including the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, among others. His dedication to duty and country left an indelible mark on those he served with all over the world, including 2 tours of Duty in Thailand during the Vietnam War.
Charles’s life was enriched by his enduring love for his family. He is survived by his devoted and Loving Wife of 66 Years, Ursula, who was his steadfast companion throughout their many years together. He is also Survived by his sons, Mike and his wife Sandra, Kevin, Andrew and his Partner Linda, his granddaughter, Kristin Smith and her husband Jason, his grandsons Brandon and Partner Constance, Justin and wife Autumn and his great-grandson, Jude (aka Judster) Smith, who will forever cherish the memories and lessons passed down from their beloved patriarch. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Walter Murphy and Ona (Cricket) Campbell Murphy, his sister, Mabel Vaught, and his brothers, Curtis, Adron, Robert, and Dillard. In addition, he is survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his family and military service, Charles enjoyed simple pleasures in life. He found joy in walking his dogs, a pastime that reflected his love for animals and the outdoors. He was also famed among friends and family for making the perfect margarita at BBQ’s, a skill that made family gatherings even more special. His intellectual curiosity was evident in his love for puzzles, and he relished the camaraderie found in participating in Volksmarches.
Charles’s legacy is not solely defined by his professional achievements but also by the warmth and generosity he extended to everyone around him. His quiet character was a beacon of kindness, and his selfless nature was a testament to the man he was.
As we remember Charles, we celebrate a life well-lived. A life filled with love, laughter, service, and the pursuit of happiness. While he may have departed from this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he loved and touched. His was a life that exemplified the best of us, and his memory will continue to inspire us all.
Charles’s passing is not only a loss to his family but to the many lives he impacted. We take comfort in knowing that he lived fully, loved deeply, and left a legacy of kindness and strength. His story is one of triumph and love, and it will be told with fondness for generations to come.
The family of Charles C. Murphy wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the thoughts and prayers during this time. Charles’s life will be celebrated in a private ceremony at Fort Sam Houston, with full military honors, as befits a man of his stature and service. His final resting place will be a testament to the life of a man who gave so much and asked for so little in return.
Rest in peace, Charles. Your journey through life was a march of honor, your footsteps a guide for us to follow. May your soul find the serenity that you so richly deserve.

1. Iron horses if you can, cages are always welcome and appreciated and unless under special circumstances not allowed in processions. You do not have to have a motorcycle to participate in honoring our veterans.
2. Safety First: Please remember to properly hydrate (including the night before) before any outdoor activity and to dress appropriately. Do not hesitate to take a break at any time if you feel you need to get in the shade or get indoors and always ask for help at any time. Also please do not forget your sun screen.
3. Please remember that our mission is to stand tall and silent, and with honor and. NO TALKING, SMOKING, CHEWING OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS, OR CELL PHONE USE IN THE FLAG LINE!

At NO TIME are any riders authorized to block any intersection or otherwise block or impede traffic laws in any way. Only Law Enforcement officials are authorized to block and/or impeded the lawful flow of traffic.
If you choose to fly a Flag on your bike you are SOLELY RESPONSIBLE for ensuring it is secured and not a danger to any other rider or traffic.
