US ARMY VETERAN – KOREAN WAR
The family of Mr. Andres Hector Gonzalez, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services and LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
Andres Hector Gonzalez, a devoted family man, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on August 11, 1933, in Mexico, to the late Pedro Gonzalez and Juanna Reyes Gonzalez, Andres’ journey was marked by resilience, determination, and dedication to his loved ones.
Andres’ life was a testament to his strong values and ability to embrace life’s simplicities with a quiet, humble demeanor. His early years as a migrant worker instilled in him a work ethic that he carried throughout life, ensuring that his family’s needs were always met with selflessness and love. Andres served his country with honor and dignity as a Corporal in the U.S. Army. While fighting in the Korean war, he bravely served as a paratrooper in the infantry unit. His dedication and sacrifices will always be remembered. Andres was also a dedicated employee of Central Power and Light for 30 years in Laredo, Texas. Andres’ commitment to his work is admirable, his retirement at the age of 62 marked the end of a fulfilling career. Beyond his professional endeavors, Andres touched the lives of many with his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit. His legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A loving husband to Cleotilde M. Gonzalez for 63 years, Andres’ dedication to his wife was the epitome of enduring partnership and his commitment to family. Their bond was a source of strength and inspiration to their children, Andres H. Gonzalez, Jr., Martin G. Gonzalez, and Gladys Gonzalez Brister (Scott), who will forever cherish the memories of their father’s affection and continuous support.
The legacy of Andres’ loving nature is also carried on by his grandchildren, Andrew D. Gonzalez (Nadya), Alexander D. Gonzalez, and Sophia M. Longoria, who will remember their grandfather as a beacon of selfless love and wisdom. Though predeceased by his son Martin G. Gonzalez, his twin brother Homero Gonzalez and brother Heriberto Gonzalez, Andres’ spirit of kinship and generosity continues to resonate within his family and all who knew him.
Those who knew Andres will forever remember him as an amiable, kind hearted, and loving man. He was the epitome of a family man, always putting the needs of his loved ones above his own. Andres’ ability to find joy in the simplest of moments, to work tirelessly for the benefit of his family, and to approach life with a self-effacing grace, were all qualities that endeared him to many.
Andres Hector Gonzalez’s life story is one of steadfast love, enduring strength, and a profound respect for the value of hard work. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that his legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will never cease and lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
May Andres rest in peace, knowing that the seeds of his values have taken root in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and that his memory will continue to guide and inspire them for generations to come.
