William Jack Hood, Beloved father, Papa Jack, Uncle, husband and friend passed away on Sunday, Feb 17, 2019 at his home at the age of 95. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Mary Jane Hicks Hood, brother James Hood, Sister Francis Skinner, wife Jerline Odell Keeling Hood, son William Robin Hood and second wife Billie Ray Hood He is survived by daughters, Jeanette Kristi Hood, daughter Mary Hood Hawkins and her children Skylar and Amber Yarbrough. His brother Charles L. Hood of Monaca, Pennsylvania, his children Nancy, Chuck and David, His step-daughters Stephanie Butler and her children Laura and Wes, step-daughter Debbie Catalani and her children Jennifer Mcfarland, Derrick, Dean, and Ryan, step-son Pete Catalani and great-grandchildren Mikenzie, Tristan, Haidyn, Chanler, Lucy, and Lawren and great-great grandchild Atlas.
Jack was born January 9, 1924 in Monaca/Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. He felt compelled to join the Military, as a Marine, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1942 at the age of 17. He participated in the Guadalcanal and Bougainville campaigns. After WWII ended, he went back home to Pennsylvania to work in the steel mills. Feeling unfulfilled, Jack decided to join the Air Force in 1949. His first assignment was Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo, Texas, where he met his first wife Jerline Odell Keeling to whom he was married to for 24 years. He then had subsequent assignments that took them to North Carolina, Arizona, Japan, California, Germany and Ohio. Retiring from active duty in 1966, he continued his career in Civil Service becoming Chief of Moral, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) for the Air Force. He was then stationed in Rhein Main AFB, Germany for 3 years, Karamursel AFB, Turkey for 4 years, San Vito AFB, Italy for 3 years, then back at Lackland AFB, San Antonio. While living in San Antonio, Texas he met and married Billie Ray Catalani and was married to her for 39 years. While married to Billie they were assigned to Reese AFB in Lubbock, Texas, Upper Heyford AFB, England and finally returning to retire in San Antonio, Texas in 1985. Jack loved his job and made many contributions to the quality of lives for the Air Force personnel wherever he was stationed.
