"KEY CEREMONY"
The SAPGR attended the "COMMUNITY KICK OFF (CKO)" for SFC Montera in August 2016.
The presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard Riders has been requested to take part in this joyous event. We have been asked to ride a procession and stand a Flag Line for the veteran and family to participate in opening ceremonies presented by Homes For Our Troops (HFOT). This "KEY CEREMONY" ceremony will be to give a well deserved and specially adapted mortgage free home to SFC Christopher Montera.
On March 16, 2012, during his fourth deployment, Army Sergeant First Class Christopher Montera was on a dismounted mission in Siah Choy, Afghanistan, with the 5th Battalion, 20th Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, when an enemy mortar round hit a detonation cord causing a secondary explosion. The blast threw SFC Montera 50 feet, resulting in second and third degree burns on 60 percent of his body, a broken neck, broken legs, orbital fracture, a blast lung and spinal cord injury. Chris is relocating to New Braunfels now that his home is complete.
