From Libby Williams

From the bottom of my heart, I wanted to thank the Patriot Guard Riders who honored my father, Retired CMSGT (USAF) William D. Connelley at Ft. Sam Houston last Monday, April 3, as he was laid to rest.

It was a true honor to meet all of you in attendance and to witness to such a solemn and deeply moving ceremony. The respect you displayed from beginning to end is something I have never witnessed before and one that I shall never, ever forget. It meant more to us than words can say. I want to again say how truly special you are and I thank YOU too, for your service to our country and to our fallen veterans.

I want to share with all of you the photo gallery and incredible video of my father’s service that was beautifully captured by Bil Sullivan Photography, with the opening of the Patriot Guard Riders escorting my father on his journey to his final resting place. It gives me goosebumps and I cry every time I watch it. Bil Sulivan later told us that in all his years of memorializing services where the PGR are present, he has never seen a Ride Captain (Bob Johnson) approach the family to again offer condolences and present them with PGR medallions, and we were incredibly touched by the gesture!

Thank you all again. My father served for 32 years, and as a true patriot, he would have been so very, very proud!
