When someone we love dearly

Leaves our world for the Heavenly gates

Heartache and sadness for those left behind is so incredibly great



Planning a ceremony to honor his life is not an easy task ,

Eulogies shared by his Grandsons who were never even asked



His Family gather to celebrate and mourn,

All looking for a common ground

And in that moment of silence

you hear a distinct rumbling sound



Then you see his Brothers, the ones our family has never met

Donning our Country's colors and with much pride and respect



Time stands still and you hold your hand over your heart and tears fill your eyes

Because at that moment, you realize that you haven't been left behind



These strangers become your family without saying a word

The Patriot Guard standing tall just as my Father would .
