[2018] Fredericksburg Veterans Day Parade (158-18) 11 NOV 18

Post by sgtmack » 11 Oct 2018, 23:35

VETERANS CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION AND PARADE
My name is Paul Searles. I am a member of a committee of volunteers for the Veterans Council and the Veterans Service Office of Gillespie County, Texas.
We are currently conducting long-range planning for a Veterans Day Parade to be held in Fredericksburg, Texas, next year on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. This event will include a special commemoration to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the First World War.
Current plans for the parade include military re-enactors for all of our country’s early wars, floats carrying veterans of WWII to the present, marching bands, vintage military vehicles and equipment, a flyover by vintage military aircraft, and a big-band musical program.
At this time, we are soliciting your preliminary availability and interest in participating in the parade by providing a group of veterans to ride their motorcycles with the Vietnam Veterans’ float.
The route is short and may take 45 minutes:
The route is as follows: We’ll Start on Nimitz Parkway, which is behind the Gillespie County Courthouse (see #5 on the attached map). We’ll then make a Left on Adams St., followed by a quick Right on Main St. and proceed down to Washington St. (#24 on the map). We’ll turn around there, and then go back down Main St. all the way to Milam St. (#30 on the map). We’ll turn Left on Milam and proceed to make another Left turn onto San Antonio St., where the parade will disband (around #23 on the map). The parade shouldn’t last more than 45 minutes.
