[MC]GySgt. Guillermo Tejada to the "Dedication" Ceremony (58-16). 15 Sep 2016

Post by sgtmack » 13 Sep 2016, 02:31

The Gary Sinese Foundation has requested the presence and participation in the escort of GySgt. Guillermo Tejada to the "Dedication" Ceremony to the specially adapted custom Smart Home our foundation has built for him and his family at 1011 Rivers Peak, Canyon Lake, TX 78133.

USMC GySgt. Guillermo Tejada, originally from El Salvador, is a dedicated American veteran who always knew he would join the military. He joined the Marines in 1999 and was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010. Later that year on November 11th, he was severally injured by an improvised explosive device (IED). In addition to losing both legs, he suffered a concussion, ruptured eardrum, trauma below the waste and injuries to his left arm and hand. While his fellow Marines immediately began to prepare evacuation, the patrol fell under heavy enemy fire preventing the air extract. It took over an hour for Guillermo to be evacuated. Four days later he was transferred to Walter Reed National Medical Center where he underwent multiple surgeries. He was then taken to Naval Medical Center San Diego for additional treatment. Today, he continues his care at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He is motivated by his wife and children. Now, thanks to the donors, sponsors and contractors, Guillermo and his family will be moving into his new smart home on September 15th.
