US ARMY VETERAN – VIETNAM WAR
The family of Mr. James Dougherty, a US Army Veteran, requests the presence and participation of the San Antonio Patriot Guard at the services, and the LEO supported procession, and graveside rendering of military honors of their loved one. We are honored to accept this invitation.
James (“Jim”) Dougherty, 83, passed away on April 28th, 2026. Born on August 14th, 1942, in Kingsville, Texas, Jim lived a life defined by service, humor, and a love for his family.
Jim was an exceptionally proud member of the United States Army and served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. After completing his military service, he earned his degree from Texas A&I University and went on to build a lifelong career in sales. With his trademark sense of humor, he often described the products he sold as “Toys R Us for cops.”
Known for his storytelling and outgoing personality, Jim truly never met a stranger. During his many trips to Mexico, his outgoing nature earned him the nickname “The Mayor” at the resort. His humor and ability to connect with people left a lasting impression everywhere he went.
Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He enjoyed making holidays special for his grandchildren, who will forever remember his unforgettable Easter Bunny and Santa Claus costumes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Charlotte; his brother, Garry; his son, Chad; his stepdaughter, Candi; his son-in-law, Clint; and his grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kennedy, Reid, and Luke. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joanie.
Jim will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
